MEANING OF LIFE

What does it all mean?

The tornadoes, the tsunamis, rebellion against Middle East tyrants, the Tea Party, human rights in China, economic and political collapse in America, football and soccer fanatics, global warming or not?

We already have all the great thinkers we need to assure planetary survival, mental health, freedom, and happiness: op-ed columnists, professors, philosophers, self-help gurus, and thousands of known dead thinkers whose work survives on the same internet as Facebook.

WE DON’T NEED MORE INFORMATION. We have it all. What we need is personal commitment, sacrificing vision, serious leadership, and society’s will to act. We don’t have it.

Since we all are going to die – the oppressors, the oppressed, the saints, the insane – is there any realistic purpose to write, discuss, analyze, create, or try to communicate with those who do not agree with us?

Is the best way, in fact, to emotionally close-out the world, or with sadness, just try to make our own individual short lives as easy and enjoyable as possible?

Or, maybe, to pay lifetime penitence for the overwhelming sins of Humankind against Humankind, by choosing to live ranting, suffering existences, though no one else cares except people tortured by Reality like ourselves?

Can we legitimately judge anyone…the Buddhist masters who escape to nirvana, the Capitalists and Communists who greedily destroy everything and everyone in their obsessed quest for power and eternal life, the hedonists who have lots of fun without guilt, the gentle selfless utopians who fantasize a human world that can never be? Yes, or no.

Are only the most brutal killers among us non-hypocrites? Is hypocrisy wrong? Is maturity a cop-out from Truth? Is humor a sadistic or masochistic addictive substitution for crying?

What does any of it all mean?

Choose your delusion: power, sex, fame, respect, comfort, inner-peace, excitement, oblivion. We all die in the end…some of us sooner, some of us later, some of us while still living.

My blog is for vulnerable communication from my heart, mind, and spirit, meant to touch readers who are passionate about creativity, art, life, and cultures.... Nastiness and personal attack are expressions of bitterness, not meaningful communication. The internet drowns in negativity, but not this site....Thoughtful criticism, however, is not negative, but an affirmation of ideals, hopes, and caring. Positive comments are more useful if they are not meant for my ego, but to share compassion and love....Thanks for reading, feeling, and sharing.
